Early morning in the area of Marilaque in Brgy. Santiago and Brgy. Laurel in Sta Maria Laguna, different Government agencies implemented the distribution of more than 200 show cause order from the Department of Environment and National Resources or DENR which was carried out simultaneously in the three provinces of Calabarzon, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon.
It was led by CENRO OIC Laguna, Mr. Venerando Garcia, along with DILG Sta Maria Chief, Jared Baldemeca, PNP Provincial Director PCol. Glenn Silvio, Philippine Information Agency, Media and Barangay officials in the area where the Regional Executive Director of the said region also arrived.
According to Laguna OIC CENRO Mr. Garcia, they were allegedly assigned by the Regional Executive Director of DENR Calabarzon to serve the show cause order on those who occupied the protected area that was proclaimed in 1977 through Proclamation 1636, that the area mentioned was proclaimed as a National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Because they noticed that since the construction of the Marilaque Highway, various establishments have sprung up, so they were ordered to serve the show cause order , what they are doing is not in accordance with the proclamation.
They have to take action so that the area will not multiply and be congested with establishments and residents.
Having said that they are not harassing the residents but they will put it in the right process as long as their document is legal said Mr. Garcia.
It is known that there will be an adjustment for the umuocufy which will take total of 80 meters from the middle of the road, thirty in DPWH and 50 in DENR.
