The army together with the local government unit of General Nakar contacted the immediate families of the slain NPA top leaders regarding their fate and provided assistance in securing clearances and death certificates. The families of the deceased rebels thanked the local government unit and the security forces for all the assistance that was provided upon them. They also encouraged the remaining NPA rebels to return to the folds of the law and live peacefully with their families.

Brig. Gen. Cerilo C Balaoro Jr., Commander of the 202nd Infantry Brigade expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the slain communist NPA fighters. “We are saddened by this fact that more victims of CTG deception lost their lives for the futile cause of the decades-long insurgency, and worse, abandoned by their comrades.”

“This incident is an explicit manifestation that terrorists have no humanity left in them as they do not care for their comrades, and are only concerned about their self-preservation at the expense of the lives of their companion in arms”, BGen Balaoro added.

The three slain rebels were among the rebels engaged in a firefight in upland village in General Nakar on September 20. After the clash, soldiers recovered the bodies of the NPA fighters, and captured two (2) M16 rifles, one (1) M4 rifle, one (1) M203 grenade launcher and personal belongings.
