The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is conducting its CY (Calendar Year) 2024 1st Quarter Regional Coordination Meeting (RCM) in Legazpi City, Albay, this Friday, 08 March 2024.
Directors and Assistant Directors from the Regional Offices of DBM will convene to discuss budget best practices and strategies, development priorities, as well as how to enhance coordination and cooperation for more efficient financial governance.
DBM Secretary Mina F. Pangandaman is set to personally attend the event and bring the different ROs up to speed with the latest initiatives of the agency, such as the ongoing transformative reforms being implemented to improve fiscal responsibility, accountability, transparency, and good governance.
Among the important topics that the conference will touch on are the Full Devolution Effort of the National Government, the National Government Rightsizing Program (NGRP), capacity-building activities for Local Government Units (LGUs) and local budget officers, digitalization programs, modernizing the country’s procurement system, and the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP).
In addition to maintaining alignment within the DBM regarding its plans and objectives, the RCM serves as a forum for addressing current and unresolved concerns brought up by the ROs.
The RCM corresponds with Secretary Pangandaman’s inclusive leadership, which seeks to enhance the competency of Public Financial Management (PFM) practitioners and budget officers to better fulfill the institution’s mandate of ensuring the fair, prudent, and responsible allocation and utilization of public funds to enhance the quality of life for every Filipino.
