QUEZON-Pormal nang isinagawa ang ground breaking ng itatayong pinakamalaking windmill sa Pilipinas sa lalawigan ng Quezon.
Ang ground breaking ceremony ay pinangunahan ng Alternergy Holdings Corp. at ni Quezon Gov. Helen Tan para sa Alabat Wind Project na ginanap sa Alabat island kung saan binubuo ng tatlong bayan– ang Alabat; Quezon, Quezon; at Perez o ALQUEREZ.
Sinabi ni Gerry Magbanua, presidente ng Alternegy Holding Corporation na tig-4 na windmill ang itatayo sa bayan ng Alabat at apat din sa Quezon, na kayang mag-generate ng 64 megawatts at dahil nakakabit na rin umano sila sa grid ng NGCP ay hindi lang ang lalawigan ang maaaring makinabang dito kundi ang iba pang lugar sa bansa.
Inaasahan naman na simula sa Disyembre 2025 ay mas stable at murang kuryente na ang aasahan ng mga taga-ALQUEREZ.
Sinabi naman ni Vicente Perez Jr., chairman ng Alternergy, ito ang pinakamataas na windmill sa bansa at kauna-unahang windmill na nakaharap sa Pacific Ocean.
Tiniyak naman ng Pamahalaan ng lalawigan ng Quezon ang suporta sa itatayong windmill lalo at malaki ang magiging tulong nito sa mga residente na maaaring makapag-generate ng trabaho dahil mangangailangan ng 400 manggagawa ang proyekto.
Bukod sa trabaho para sa mamamayan ng Quezon at tiyak din na bababa ang presyo ng kuryente sa lalawigan at magiging tourist destination ang Isla ng Alabat dahil sa itatayong windmills.
Nabatid na 2018 pa ipinanukala ni Gob.Tan na noon ay Kongresista pa lang siya sa ika-apat na Distrito ng Quezon sa Department of Energy ang posibilidad na pagtatayo ng windmills sa isla ng Alabat dahil bukod sa ligtas gamitin ay eco friendly pa rin ito at maaari din na magbukas ng mga oportunidad sa mga residente dito.
