L-R: Phillip Salvador, Former Cong. Benjie Agarao, Senator Bong Go, Mayor Egay Ramos, v.Governor Atty. Karen Agapay, Board Member Boy Zuniga

Laguna—Senator Bong Go, alongside Mayor Egay Ramos, led the inauguration of the new two-story Municipal Hall Building in Pila, Laguna. The project, initiated by Senator Go and the national government, marked its completion with a formal opening on July 29, following a groundbreaking ceremony on May 21, 2021.

In his speech, Senator Go expressed his joy in being part of the municipal hall’s construction, attributing its success to Mayor Ramos’s dedication. He urged the municipal employees, under Mayor Ramos’s leadership, to maintain the building and ensure it is welcoming to all, especially the underprivileged. He emphasized the importance of having a comfortable workspace to efficiently serve the community, encouraging everyone to support the less fortunate as the government is their primary source of aid.

Mayor Ramos highlighted the realization of a long-awaited dream on Pila’s 449th founding anniversary with the blessing of the new Municipal Building. He recounted discussions with Senator Go about the project’s progress, expressing gratitude for the PHP 70 million funding provided by “Mr. Malasakit.” He noted that the local government did not incur any expenses due to Senator Go’s initiative, making the building a symbol of a new era for Pila.

Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay, along with other local officials, municipal employees, and personnel from the PNP and BFP, witnessed the inauguration. Senator Go acknowledged Vice Governor Agapay for her unwavering support during his visits to the province.

Additionally, Senator Go announced that Pila is among 13 municipalities in Laguna to receive a Super Health Center, which was warmly received by the town’s residents. Known as the “Blessed Town,” Pila is recognized for remaining undamaged during World War II.

Following the inauguration, a TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) program was held at the nearby Gymnasium, where aid was distributed to the local community. More than 600 beneficiaries in Pila, Laguna, received assistance through this initiative.

TUPAD is a government program under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed individuals, and seasonal workers. Beneficiaries are engaged in community-based projects, such as cleaning and sanitation efforts, for a short period, usually 10 to 30 days.

During the event, Senator Bong Go emphasized the government’s commitment to helping Filipinos recover from economic challenges by providing temporary job opportunities that not only help individuals and families but also contribute to the betterment of the community. The program is also extended to those who have become victims of Bagyong Carina, offering vital support to help them rebuild their lives and regain stability.

Through the TUPAD program, participants receive wages based on the prevailing minimum wage in the region, as well as personal accident insurance and protective equipment necessary for their tasks. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to promote inclusive growth and ensure that no one is left behind during the recovery process. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, which comes at a crucial time for many who have faced difficulties due to economic disruptions.
