BATANGAS-Isang jeepney driver na wanted sa kasong murder at umano ay kasabwat sa pagpaslang sa broadcaster na si Percy Lapid ang hindi nagpahuli ng buhay sa mga awtoridad sa ginawang paghahain ng warrant of arrest laban dito sa Brgy. Lumbang, Lipa City, Batangas.
Ayon sa report, sa halip na sumuko pinaputukan pa nito ang aarestong mga awtoridad na bitbit ang warrant of arrest mula sa RTC Branch 254 ng Las Piñas City nitong Linggo.
Nauwi pa sa hostage drama ang sitwasyon ng mula alas 4:00 ng madaling araw hanggang alas 8:00 ng umaga, hinostage pa ng suspek na si Jake Mendoza , alyas Orly, 40-anyos, tubong Baco, Orieantal Mindoro, sa loob ng kanilang bahay ang kanyang asawa at anak na lalaki upang hindi makalapit ang nagsanib-puwersang mga tauhan ng RSOG NCRPO, NICA-4A, mga taga NBI, SAF at mga miyembro ng Lipa city police na maghahain ng warrant of arrest.
Sa patuloy na negosasyon sa tulong ng mga barangay officials at mga kaanak nito, pumayag ito na palabasin ang kanyang mag-ina.
Subalit bago nakapasok ang mga awtoridad, nagbaril sa ulo ang suspek.
Agad itong isinugod sa Ospital ng Lipa subalit idineklara na itong dead on arrival ng doktor.
Narekober sa tabi ng biktima ang isang kalibre 45 baril na ginamit nito sa pagbabaril.
Ayon sa pulisya, si Mendoza ay siyang sinasabing kasabwat ng self-confessed gunman na si Joel Escorial sa pagpaslang sa batikang broadcaster na si Percy Lapid na pinagbabaril habang sakay ng kaniyang kotse pauwi sa BF Resort Village, Las Piñas City noong Oktubre 3, 2022.
Nauna nang sumuko si Escorial matapos daw niyang makita ang kaniyang mukha sa closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera na isa sa mga suspek sa pagpatay kay Lapid.
