In a breakthrough, Batangas police apprehended two most-wanted individuals on September 14, 2024, in connection with the disappearance of former beauty queen Catherine Camilon. The arrests occurred in Barangay Caloocan, Balayan, Batangas, during coordinated police operations.

The first suspect, 40-year-old Allan Avena de Castro, a former police officer and resident of Barangay Tuyon-Tuyon, Tuy, Batangas, was arrested at 7:47 PM. De Castro, wanted for kidnapping and serious illegal detention, was apprehended based on a warrant issued by Hon. Jacqueline Hernandez Palmes of the Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 3, Batangas City. The warrant, dated September 4, 2024, recommended no bail. De Castro is implicated in the kidnapping case involving Camilon, who has been missing for several months.

Just under an hour later, at 8:39 PM, the police arrested 34-year-old Jeffrey Arriola Magpantay, a resident of Barangay San Roque, Rosario, Batangas. Like De Castro, Magpantay is wanted for kidnapping and serious illegal detention, under the same warrant and judge. He is also suspected of involvement in Camilon’s disappearance.

Both suspects were taken into custody, and authorities employed an Alternative Recording Device (ARD) to document the arrests. The Batangas police, led by PLTCOL Merlin C. Pineda, emphasized their commitment to solving the case of the missing beauty queen, vowing to pursue all leads. No bail has been recommended for either suspect.

Camilon’s disappearance has captured public attention since she went missing, and these arrests mark a critical development in the ongoing investigation.
