Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region IV-A (CALABARZON) and the Provincial Government of Cavite, successfully hosted the Biyaheng South Experiential Tour 2024. This year’s event was co-presented by Taal Vista Hotel and DongFeng Motors PH, with the generous support of World Balance, Sky Ranch Philippines, and Suteki Japanese Restaurant.

A diverse group of influencers and media partners, referred to as “Ka-biyaheros,” embarked on an exciting adventure, discovering the hidden treasures and rich cultural heritage of Southern Luzon.

Day 1: Exploring the History and Beauty of Silang and Tagaytay

The tour kicked off with a visit to the MPT South Hub, the sustainable headquarters of CAVITEX and CALAX, which is LEED Gold certified. The hub’s green architecture includes a solar panel field that generates 97% of its energy requirements, a biophilic design, and electric vehicle charging stations.

The Ka-biyaheros then immersed themselves in local culture at Shambala Silang, particularly in the Tawid Gallery, which showcases the indigenous arts and crafts of the region. Lunch followed at Siglo Moderno Filipino, where participants enjoyed the “Lakbay Lokal Platter,” a creative fusion of traditional Caviteño dishes like Laing Dinamita and Himagsikan wings.

The day concluded in Tagaytay, where participants stayed at the iconic Taal Vista Hotel, featuring a historic walking tour that highlighted the legacy of Tagaytay, the Taal Volcano, and the hotel itself. For an extra thrill, the group visited Sky Ranch Tagaytay before ending the day with a vibrant dinner at Suteki, a Japanese restaurant that provided a fresh contrast to the earlier Filipino meals.

Day 2: Delving into the Cultural Riches of Maragondon

On the second day, the tour continued to Maragondon, Cavite, where the group enjoyed a peaceful lunch aboard the Alegria del Rio Balsa River Cruise. The afternoon brought them to the Bonifacio Trial House, a historical landmark where national hero Andres Bonifacio stood trial, deepening the participants’ understanding of Cavite’s role in the country’s history.

To cap off the day, participants engaged in a hands-on session at the Likhang Maragondon Bamboo Weaving Workshop, where they learned traditional weaving techniques from local artisans, crafting their own bamboo placemats. This activity served as both a cultural immersion and a means of preserving the local craft for future generations. The day ended with a relaxing snack at Lolo Claro’s Restaurant.

The Biyaheng South Experiential Tour not only showcases the scenic beauty and rich heritage of Southern Luzon but also supports local economies.

“In celebration of National Tourism Month, this tour demonstrates our dedication to driving tourism and economic growth in the South. We are deeply grateful to the Department of Tourism and Cavite Tourism for their invaluable support,” said Arlette Capistrano, MPT South’s Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management.

The Biyaheng South program underscores MPT South’s tourism advocacy by promoting its toll road networks, including CAVITEX, the C5 Link, and CALAX, as gateways to Southern Luzon’s tourism destinations. Through improved connectivity, these infrastructures not only ease travel but also act as catalysts for regional economic development.

MPT South is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), which manages a vast portfolio of toll roads, including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the NLEX Connector Road, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
