Vice Mayor Baby Evangelista Files Mayoral Candidacy, Calls for Unity and Continuity of Family’s 38-Year Legacy of Service in Los Baños

Los Baños, Laguna – On October 5, 2024, Vice Mayor Josephine “Baby” Sumangil Evangelista officially filed her certificate of candidacy for the mayoral race in Los Baños, carrying with her the weight of a 38-year legacy of public service. The Sumangil family’s dedication to the town began with her mother, former Vice Mayor Josefina Sumangil, followed by her brother, Sonny Sumangil, who also served as a public official.

“We’ve been helping the people of Los Baños for 38 years, starting with my mother’s time as Vice Mayor. Our family has always been committed to uplifting the lives of our fellow citizens, and I am determined to continue that legacy. If given the opportunity, we will ensure that Los Baños becomes a happier and more prosperous town,” said Evangelista.

She highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration in her campaign, calling on the residents of Los Baños to come together in building a brighter future. Evangelista assured that her leadership would bring efficiency, transparency, and a deep sense of service to the local government.

Joining her in filing their candidacies is the complete “Nagkakaisang Los Baños” team, which seeks to deliver “Mahusay, Matapat, at Makabayang” (Efficient, Honest, and Patriotic) service. Alongside her councilor candidates Janos Lapiz, Benny Alborida, Miko Pelegrina, Jerwin Molinawe, Jerico Ciceron, Dexter Concio, Chinky San Agustin, and EMJ Ramos, with Councilor Marlo Alipon running for Vice Mayor.

Evangelista faces a strong field of contenders, including incumbent Mayor Anthony Genuino, Neil Andrew Nocon, and former Barangay Tadlac captain Bobit Meneses.

As the election season unfolds, Evangelista’s call for unity and the continuation of her family’s legacy of service is expected to resonate with many in the community.
