PDEA with PNP Nab High-Value Drug Personality, Seize Marijuana Oil in Pasay City Buy-Bust

A high-value drug personality, a minor, was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Pasay City on October 4, 2024. The operation, conducted by joint forces from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Pasay City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, took place in front of a funeral home along A. Arnaiz Avenue, Libertad.

The arrest occurred at approximately 3:40 PM, when the suspect was caught selling seven disposable vapes containing suspected marijuana oil to a poseur-buyer. The illegal product weighed around 140 grams, with an estimated street value of Php16,800.

The operatives from PDEA Quezon Provincial Office, PDEA Laguna Provincial Office, and PDEA NCR-Southern District Office coordinated with the Pasay City Police to ensure the success of the operation. The buy-bust money used in the transaction was also confiscated from the suspect.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect, despite being a minor, is considered a high-value target in the illegal drug trade. Due to the suspect’s age, PDEA is now coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure the proper handling of the case, especially under the guidelines set by law for minors.

Following the arrest, the suspect was at the PDEA Region 4A facility in Barangay Sinalhan, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, where further investigation is ongoing. The vapes containing suspected marijuana oil have been sent for laboratory testing, and authorities are also probing the source of the marijuana oil and the network to which the suspect belongs.

Charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspect. The involvement of a minor adds complexity to the legal proceedings, as special provisions apply under the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.

This operation highlights the continued efforts of PDEA and the PNP to combat illegal drugs in the Philippines, with the agencies committed to targeting both distributors and suppliers in order to disrupt the drug trade.
