Quiboloy, Revillame File Certificates of Candidacy for Senate Race in 2025

Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy has officially filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for senator in the 2025 elections through his legal counsel, Atty. Mark Tolentino. Despite facing multiple charges, including qualified human trafficking and child abuse, Quiboloy aims to be part of what his camp describes as the “solution” for the country’s problems.

“Si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is running for senator… Kasi gusto niya maging part ng solusyon ng ating bansa. Ang focus po niya bakit siya tumakbo dahil sa Diyos at sa Pilipinas nating mahal,” said Tolentino during the filing.

Quiboloy remains in detention while his cases are ongoing.

Meanwhile, well-known comedian and TV host Willie Revillame also entered the Senate race just minutes before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) closed the filing of COCs for 2025 aspirants. Revillame, a prominent figure in Philippine entertainment, is running as an independent candidate.

“For 21 years, meron akong daily show, tanghali, hapon, gabi,” Revillame stated, highlighting his long-running career as a television host and his desire to transition into public service.

The 2025 senatorial elections are shaping up to be competitive, with a wide array of candidates from various backgrounds vying for a seat in the Senate.
