Sol Aragones Files Certificate of Candidacy for Laguna Governor, with Peewee Perez as Running Mate

Former Congresswoman Sol Aragones has officially filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the position of governor of Laguna. She is joined by incumbent board member Peewee Perez, who will be running as her vice governor. Their partnership is expected to bring a new dynamic to the local political landscape in the upcoming elections.

Aragones, a former reporter who transitioned into politics, won her first seat as Congresswoman for Laguna in 2013. She successfully served three consecutive terms before her defeat in the 2022 gubernatorial race against incumbent Governor Ramil Hernandez. Despite the loss, Aragones remained committed to public service. Even after her defeat, she continued assisting the needy, particularly persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens.

One of Aragones’ key advocacies is improving the quality of service in public hospitals. She aims to prohibit hospital staff from being rude to patients, a common cause of complaints. However, she clarified that her intention is not to terminate any employees, but rather to provide proper guidance to enhance patient care.

In addition to healthcare, Aragones has also expressed her commitment to offering scholarships to students in Laguna, regardless of their grades. She believes that education is a fundamental right and wants to ensure that no child is deprived of it, regardless of academic performance.

The tandem of Aragones and Perez is expected to raise the stakes in Laguna’s political arena, especially as they present new platforms to the voters. As the 2025 elections draw near, the public eagerly awaits the outcome of their campaign efforts.
