Calamba City, Laguna – The Police Regional Office CALABARZON demonstrated exceptional efficiency by resolving a robbery-hold-up and carnapping incident within hours after it occurred on December 28, 2024, along the National Highway in Barangay Patimbao, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

The victim, Albert Ong, a 42-year-old tricycle driver from Barangay Sto. Angel Central, Santa Cruz, was robbed of his motorcycle at approximately 11:10 PM. Swift action by personnel of the Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station (MPS), including the use of CCTV footage, led to the identification and arrest of the suspects by 2:00 AM the next day in Barangay Duhat, Santa Cruz.

The suspects, identified as alias “Chris,” 22, of Tondo, Manila, and alias “Micy,” 25, of Santa Cruz, Manila, were found in possession of a short firearm, a replica handgun, ammunition, and the stolen Rusi motorcycle. Authorities also recovered a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle used in the crime, stolen cash, and items believed to be linked to other offenses.

Further investigations revealed the suspects’ involvement in a separate “Basag Kotse” incident in Pililia, Rizal, earlier the same day, as well as a history of criminal activities including drug-related offenses.

PBGEN Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, Regional Director of Police Regional Office CALABARZON, commended the Santa Cruz MPS for their swift and effective response, highlighting the importance of vigilance during the holiday season.

“As we celebrate the holidays, we must remain alert against individuals who exploit the season’s festivities to commit crimes. The CALABARZON police force is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our communities by responding promptly to incidents and bringing offenders to justice,” PBGEN Lucas stated.

The Santa Cruz MPS is now assisting the victim in filing the necessary complaints against the suspects. Coordination with other law enforcement units continues to build a strong case, ensuring accountability for the suspects’ criminal activities.

The PNP CALABARZON urges the public to report suspicious activities and assures the community of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order during the holidays and beyond.
