CALABARZON’s Most Wanted Drug Suspect Captured in Antipolo

On January 21, the Morong Municipal Police Station successfully arrested a 28-year-old construction worker tagged as the Most Wanted Person in CALABARZON. The suspect, identified only as “Alias Jhaps,” was apprehended at his residence in Brgy. Cupang, Antipolo City at approximately 4:00 PM. The arrest was conducted under a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 79 in Morong, Rizal for violations of Section 5 of R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

According to Police Colonel Felipe B. Maraggun, Provincial Director of Rizal PPO, the warrant of arrest did not recommend bail, highlighting the severity of the charges against the suspect. Authorities disclosed that the individual had a history of involvement in illegal drugs, having been previously arrested on November 29, 2018, for possession of shabu and an unlicensed firearm. While the suspect initially secured release on probation, he returned to the drug trade a year later.

Investigations revealed that Alias Jhaps sourced his illegal drugs from a contact in Cavite and distributed them across Baras, Tanay, and Antipolo City. He managed to evade authorities during a December 2019 operation and had been in hiding for the past five years. Despite his efforts to remain undetected, law enforcement’s continuous intelligence gathering and surveillance led to his eventual capture.

During the arrest, police ensured that the suspect was informed of his rights and was immediately placed in the custody of the Morong Custodial Facility. Proper documentation of his case is underway, and the issuing court will be informed of the successful operation. The arrest underscores the commitment of the police to dismantle illegal drug networks and bring offenders to justice.

Police Colonel Maraggun commended the officers involved for their dedication and tireless efforts in upholding peace and order in the community. He emphasized that operations such as this are part of the broader mission to ensure a safe and progressive environment for the residents of Rizal.
