Man Arrested in Caloocan for Drugs and Firearms After Fleeing Police Stop

Caloocan City police arrested a man early Sunday morning after he attempted to flee a routine ordinance violation stop, leading to the discovery of illegal drugs and an unlicensed firearm.

Paul Angelo Quinto y Rivera, 30, was taken into custody at around 2:30 AM on February 2, 2025, along Kaagapay Road, Barangay 188, Caloocan City. Officers from Tala Police Sub-Station 14 were conducting a mobile patrol when they saw Quinto violating a city ordinance by urinating in a public place.

When approached for the issuance of an ordinance violation receipt (OVR), Quinto suddenly ran, prompting a short chase that led to his arrest. Upon searching him, authorities found a small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing approximately 20 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around PHP 136,000. They also recovered a caliber .38 revolver loaded with four live rounds.

Quinto is now under police custody and faces multiple charges, including violations of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (resistance and disobedience to a person in authority), Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

The suspect was taken to Caloocan City Medical Center for a physical examination before being turned over to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) for further investigation and the preparation of charges.
