Nine Dawlah Islamiya Members, Including Two High-Profile Figures, Surrender in Maguindanao del Sur

Maguindanao del Sur – A boost to peace and security efforts in Mindanao, nine members of the Dawlah Islamiya-Hassan Group (DI-HG), including two high-profile individuals, voluntarily surrendered to government forces on May 28, 2025, in Barangay Kabinge, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.

The surrender was facilitated through a joint counterterrorism operation by personnel of the 41st and 44th Special Action Companies, 4th Special Action Battalion of the Philippine National Police, and the 90th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

Among those who surrendered were Datu Manot, a PSR-listed member of the DI-HG for the first quarter of 2025, and Baharin, another PSR-listed member identified in the fourth quarter of 2024. The seven others are reported as non-PSR listed members of the same terrorist group.

The surrenderers handed over a cache of high-powered weapons including One 7.62mm rifle, Three 5.56mm rifles, Two .50 caliber Barrett rifles, Two 40mm grenade launchers, One .30 caliber Garand rifle

The 90th Infantry Battalion has taken custody of the individuals and the surrendered firearms for proper documentation and processing. Authorities also confirmed that the former combatants may be enrolled in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which provides support for the reintegration of former rebels into mainstream society.

This development underscores the effectiveness of the sustained partnership between the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines in their shared mission to combat terrorism and restore peace in conflict-affected communities. It also highlights the government’s unwavering commitment to promoting reconciliation, stability, and long-term development in the Bangsamoro region.
