Laguna Cops Seize Over P400K Worth of Illegal Drugs in Twin Buy-Busts

Camp BGen Paciano Rizal – Two individuals were apprehended in separate buy-bust operations carried out by the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station in Laguna as part of its intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

Laguna Police Provincial Director PCOL Jonar R. Yupio identified the suspects only by their aliases: Sam and Ruel, both residents of Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

According to the report of PLTCOL Alexander S. Alvarez, Officer-in-Charge of the Sta. Cruz MPS, the first operation took place at around 10:30 PM on July 9, 2025, in Barangay Pagsawitan, where alias Ruel was arrested after selling suspected shabu to a poseur buyer. Confiscated from him were five (5) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 20.60 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 140,080.00. Authorities also recovered a PHP 1,000 bill used as buy-bust money and a coin purse.

In a separate operation at around 3:30 AM on July 10, the same police station apprehended alias Sam in Barangay Sto. Angel Central, Sta. Cruz. Seized from the suspect were four (4) plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 43 grams, valued at PHP 292,400.00. Police also recovered a PHP 1,000 buy-bust money, a coin purse, and a cellular phone.

Both suspects are now under the custody of Sta. Cruz MPS while formal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared.

“This should serve as a stern warning to those who continue to engage in the sale and use of illegal drugs,” said PCOL Yupio. “The Laguna PNP remains relentless and proactive in our anti-drug operations, with the full support of the community. We will not allow illegal drugs to destroy lives—especially the lives of our youth.”
