NGCP Activates Emergency Measures Ahead of Severe Tropical Storm Emong

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has mobilized comprehensive disaster preparedness efforts as Severe Tropical Storm Emong, along with Tropical Storm Dante and the intensified southwest monsoon (habagat), threaten to impact parts of the country.

As the nation’s power system operator and transmission service provider, NGCP has rolled out its Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP), ensuring the stability and readiness of the power transmission network during and after the storms.

Key preparations include:

Ensuring the full functionality of communication equipment vital for coordination and emergency response,

Pre-positioning of line crews in critical and strategic locations for rapid response and restoration,

Securing ample hardware materials and supplies for potential repair and maintenance work on affected facilities.

These proactive measures are part of NGCP’s commitment to minimizing disruption to power services and safeguarding transmission infrastructure amid intensifying weather conditions.

NGCP continues to monitor the situation closely and remains on high alert to provide uninterrupted transmission service during this period of heightened weather disturbances.
