CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Even on the morning of Easter Sunday 2026, Roseller “Ross” H. Rizal led an immediate response to a fire incident that struck Barangay Cinco at dawn, affecting at least 14 families.


Responding swiftly to the emergency, the mayor personally ensured that aid reached the affected residents, bringing essential relief items and financial assistance to help them recover from the sudden disaster.


“Agad tayong rumesponde sa nangyaring sunog kaninang madaling araw sa Barangay Cinco kung saan 14 na pamilya ang naapektuhan. Dala natin ang relief goods, GO BAG, at tulong pinansyal upang kahit papaano ay makatulong sa kanilang agarang pangangailangan”, the Mayor said.


Local authorities continue to assess the damage while coordinating efforts to provide temporary shelter and further assistance to displaced families.


Mayor Rizal also raised concern over the recent series of fire incidents reported in the city since Thursday, emphasizing the importance of vigilance, especially during the dry season. (Holy week)


“Sunod-sunod ang insidente ng sunog sa ating lungsod mula pa noong Huwebes. Ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ay maigting na pinapatupad ang mga fire safety precautions katuwang ang BFP. Sa ganitong panahon ng tag-init, inaanyayahan natin ang bawat isa na magdoble ingat at maging mapagmatyag upang maiwasan ang ganitong sakuna.”


The city government, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), is intensifying fire prevention campaigns and safety inspections across communities to prevent further incidents.


Authorities urge residents to remain cautious and proactive in ensuring fire safety, as extreme heat conditions continue to heighten the risk of similar emergencies.
