Victoria, Laguna — Unidentified gunmen opened fire on the residence of a barangay chairman in Barangay Masapang at dawn on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in a brazen attack that left the official and his family unharmed.


Authorities identified the target as Barangay Chairman Isko Agonia, whose home was riddled with bullets at around 4:00 a.m. Despite the intensity of the assault, Agonia and his family miraculously escaped without any injuries.


Initial police reports led by Chief of Police Maj. Jose Wenie Tayactac said residents heard a series of rapid gunshots outside the chairman’s home. The suspects, still unidentified, quickly fled the scene aboard a motorcycle and headed toward an undetermined direction.
Operatives from the Scene of the Crime (SOCO) recovered approximately 12 empty shell casings from a .45 caliber firearm at the site. The evidence is now undergoing forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.


Police are pursuing multiple angles, including the possibility of politically motivated violence and the chairman’s involvement in anti-illegal drug operations in the barangay. Other motives are also being considered as investigators work to establish a clear lead.


Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the suspects’ escape route and identify those responsible. The police have urged the public to cooperate and share any information that may help expedite the resolution of the case.
