Calamba Police Arrest 35-Year-Old Man for Violation of Anti-VAWC Law

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — A 35-year-old man wanted for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act was arrested by police operatives in Barangay Kay-Anlog, Calamba City on Tuesday afternoon, January 20, 2026.

The suspect was identified as Michael Balbal Elic, single, jobless, and a resident of Blk. 24, Lot 54, Southville, Barangay Kay-Anlog, Calamba City. He was apprehended at around 3:48 p.m. by the Tracker Team of the Calamba City Police Station (CCPS) during a police operation against an “other wanted person.”

Police said Elic was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued on January 19, 2026 by Hon. Alvin Bugayong Tanguanco, Presiding Judge of the Family Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 8, Calamba City. The warrant was issued in connection with a case for Violation of Section 5(a) of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-VAWC Law, under Criminal Case No. 47551-2026-C, with a recommended bail of ₱2,000.00.

Authorities confirmed that the arrest was properly documented using one body-worn camera and one alternative recording device, in line with standard operating procedures.

After his arrest, Elic was informed of his constitutional rights and was given the required Anti-Torture Warning. He is currently under the custody of the Calamba CCPS.
Police added that the Return of Warrant of Arrest is now being prepared for submission to the issuing court, while the Incident Report (IR) has already been submitted to the Police Intelligence Unit (PIU).

The operation was conducted under the leadership of PLTCOL Dennis C. De Guzman, Officer-in-Charge of Calamba CCPS.

The Calamba police reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts against wanted persons and ensuring justice for victims, especially in cases involving violence against women and children.
