QUEZON—Dead on the spot ang dalawang backrider na babae habang sugatan naman ang driver ng motorsiklo matapos masalpok ng isang van ang kanilang sinasakyan sa kahabaan ng Tayabas Bypass Road, Barangay Lakawan, Tayabas City, nitong Lunes ng umaga, Pebrero 9, 2026.
Ayon sa pulisya, bandang alas-9:32 ng umaga nang mabangga ng isang puting van na patungo sa direksyon ng Tayabas City ang motorsiklo habang tumatawid sa interseksyon sa Tayabas-Pagbilao Road patungong direksyon ng Mauban.
Dahil sa lakas ng pagkasalpok, tumilapon ang tatlong sakay ng motorsiklo sa island sa gitna ng interseksyon.
Ang dalawang babaeng backrider na may edad 21 at 20 anyos ay kapwa hindi na umabot ng buhay sa ospital, habang ang 22-anyos na driver ng motorsiklo ay nagtamo ng mga sugat at agad na isinugod ng mga tauhan ng Tayabas City DRRMO sa Quezon Medical Center sa Lucena City.
Matapos ang insidente, hindi huminto ang van at tumakas ang driver subalit agad naman itong hinabol ng isang LTO personnel na nasa lugar at naaresto ito malapit sa Tayabas City proper.
Napag-alamang walang driver’s license ang 25-taong gulang na suspek na taga Kawayan, Masbate at colorum umano ang minamaneho nitong sasakyan na may 14 na pasahero.
Wala namang naiulat na pinsala at nasaktan sa mga sakay ng van.
Rumesponde sa insidente ang PNP, BFP at mga opisyal ng barangay upang tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng lugar,at nagsagawa ng paunang lunas sa sugatang rider at asikasuhin ang mga namatay na biktima.
Kasalukuyang nasa kustodiya ng Tayabas PNP ang driver ng van at inihahanda na ang kasong Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Homicide, and Serious Physical Injury, at Damage to Property.
