The Biñan PNP immediately went to the former soldier after receiving a complaint from a resident that someone had fired a gun in Pedro Escueta St., Brgy. San Antonio, Biñan City, Laguna 12:10pm this Undas (Nov. 1, 2022)
Identified by PLtCol. Virgilio M. Jopia, the suspect is Esmeraldo Moreno y Sikabugayan, male, married, 59 years old, who went AWOL from being a soldier and is now a security guard.
The police with Binan City Marshal entered a very tight alley just to get Moreno. While questioning, Moreno tried to enter the house but the authorities prevented him and when he was about to be taken, he screamed and struggled. Refusing to come with the authorities.
He was supported step by step as he exited the police car and entered the Police Station.
He had a day off this Undas so he got drunk and fired a gun.
During the investigation, the suspect said that he was just testing his Smith and Wesson gun that he inherited from his father.
According to the resident who reported to the police, the suspect always does this whenever he is drunk, so out of fear that might accidentally hit anybody, he decided to put him in jail.
Moreno will face the case of Illegal Discharge of firearms, alarm and scandal, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition while he was detained in Biñan lock-up cell.
