Several marijuana plants worth P145, 950,000.00 were discovered and destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera together with the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) in a massive marijuana eradication campaign in the Province of Kalinga on July 16-23, 2023.
Regional Director Julius M. Paderes, acted as ground commander and personally supervised the PDEA operatives in the one-week marijuana eradication campaign. He physically monitored the simultaneous marijuana eradication operations launched in the barangays of Butbut Proper, Bugnay, Buscalan, Loccong, and Tulgao West, all in the municipality of Tinglayan, Kalinga resulting in the destruction of 681,750 pieces of fully grown marijuana (cannabis) plants; 30,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings; and discovery of 70,000 pieces of harvested marijuana stalks.
All the marijuana (cannabis) plants were burned on-site and no cultivator was arrested during the operation.
