Cavinti, Laguna – On September 21, 2023, Thursday, Rodriguez, Rizal Task Force ELCAC together with the 202nd Brigade facilitated a Local Peace Engagement (LPE) held at Covered Court, Brgy Puray, Rodriguez, Rizal. The activity was highlighted by the voluntary surrender of one Former Rebel, four Milisya ng Bayan (MB) members, and the withdrawal of support of thirteen mass base supporters of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).
BGen. Cerilo C Balaoro Jr, Commander of the 202nd (Unifier) Brigade warmly welcomed the surrender of the MB members and withdrawal of support of mass base supporters to the CTG.
“Your coming forward is a clear manifestation of your renewed trust in the government, and that awareness programs on countering the CTG propaganda and narratives are widely disseminated. I assure the surrenderees’ safety and urge the remaining CPP-NPA supporters to surrender and avail of the assistance offered by the government through the integration program to help them build a new and normal life with their loved ones”, BGen Balaoro added.
It can be recalled that in recent months, 969 residents of Rizal, who are Milisyang Bayan members, couriers, and mass base supporters surrendered and withdrew their support from the CTG.
