Local Peace Engagement Results in the Surrender of Two Militisya ng Bayan (MB) Members and Withdrawal of Support from Six Mass Base Supporters

Cavinti, Laguna – Mascap, Rodriguez, Rizal – In a significant development towards peace and unity, the 202nd Infantry (Unifier) Brigade, led by Brigadier General Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr., PA, in collaboration with the 80th Infantry (STEADFAST) Battalion under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Erwin Y. Commendador, has successfully orchestrated a Local Peace Engagement (LPE).

This event, held at the Mascap Covered Court in Barangay Mascap, Rodriguez, Rizal on October 7, 2023, marked a turning point in the fight against insurgency in the region.

During the LPE, two MB members voluntarily surrendered, taking a decisive step towards reintegration into mainstream society. Additionally, six (6) mass base supporters withdrew their support from the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG). A total of 185 residents from Barangay Mascap attended the event, signifying their commitment to lasting peace and their allegiance to the government.

The ceremony was marked by symbolic gestures of reconciliation and unity, including the signing of the Pledge of Commitment, the burning of the CPP-NPA-NDF flags, and inspirational messages from invited dignitaries. Hon. Gen. Ronnie S. Evangelista (Ret), representing the Rodriguez LGU, played a crucial role in facilitating this momentous occasion.

The successful outcome of the Local Peace Engagement underscores the unwavering dedication of our armed forces, local government units, and the community in working together toward a more peaceful and prosperous future for the people of Rodriguez, Rizal. This event serves as a shining example of the power of unity and collaboration in achieving peace and development in the region.
