Cavinti, Laguna – Troops of the 1st Infantry Battalion under the 2nd Infantry Division, Philippine Army captured a wanted NPA member after a brief firefight with a twenty-man Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) belonging to Kilusang Larangang Gurella (KLG) NARCISO of Sub-Regional Military Area 4A, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee at vicinity of Sitio Putol na Gulod, Brgy Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon on October 16, 2023.
According to BGen. Cerilo C Balaoro Jr., the Commander of the 202nd Brigade, the encounter was a result of the timely information provided by residents of said community who complained of the presence of the NPA terrorists demanding food and other supplies from the poor people.
The captured fugitive was identified as Reymark or Raymark Moneda alias RICO/LLOYD/BULAG, a Vice Squad Leader of Iskwad Uno of the Platoon under KLG NARCISO. He is also known for his notoriety and involvement in various terrorist and extortion activities in Rizal and Quezon provinces. Captured items in his possession include one Colt M16 assault rifle, one caliber .45 pistol, one hand grenade, one Baofeng commercial handheld radio, assorted ammunition and subversive documents with high intelligence value.
PNP personnel of the Municipal Police Station of Infanta, Quezon served the Warrants of Arrest to alias Rico for the crime of Frustrated Murder, Rebellion or Insurrection and other criminal charges.
BGen. Balaoro expressed his appreciation to the residents of far-flung communities in Rizal and Quezon for their continued support by providing information on the whereabouts of the CTG members that resulted to successful encounter. He appealed to the remaining NPA members to return to the folds of the law, avail the reintegration package of the government and live a peaceful life with their families.
It can be recalled that John Patrick Olarve @JP/JAY-P/KOBE under SDG Platoon, KLG NARCISO, another notorious CTG member was arrested in So Queborosa, Brgy Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon last October 11, 2023, thru a tip from concerned citizen.
