TRUCK DRIVER AND HELPER WERE PUT IN JAIL FOR GIVING MONEY IN EXCHANGE OF NON ISSUANCE OF TRAFFIC CITATION TICKET TO RHPU4A PERSONNEL

Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4A, PHPT QUEZON, under the supervision of PMAJ JONATHAN VICTOR M OLVEÑA and through the leadership of Regional Chief RHPU4A, PCOL ROMMEL C ESTOLANO, while conducting anti-carnapping operation in line with focus crime initiative and enforcing RA 4136 along Maharlika Highway, Brgy. Lusacan, Tiaong, Quezon, arrested the driver of the Truck and his helper in the act of giving money to an HPG Personnel.

The arrest of the suspects stemmed when the personnel of PHPT-Quezon was about to issue a Temporary Violators Permit for violations of obstruction, dress code, and dirty plates to the driver of one Trailer Truck. The suspects alighted from their vehicle and bribed PMAJ JONATHAN VICTOR OLVEÑA a Php 100.00 bill in exchange for avoiding the issuance of TOP.

Right there and then, PMAJ JONATHAN VICTOR OLVEÑA affected the arrest and informed them of the cause of their arrest. Likewise, the suspects were also informed of their constitutional rights as well as their rights under RA 9745 or the Anti-Torture Act of 2009.

Thereafter, on October 30, 2023, at about 12:00 PM, the driver and his helper were presented to the Provincial Prosecutor Office and underwent an inquest procedure through Online-Inquest for violation of Direct Bribery

The arrest of the suspects is a significant accomplishment of RHPU4A, which shows a testament to this unit’s commitment to the strict implementation of the guidance of PBGEN ALAN M. NAZARRO, Director of the Highway Patrol Group about the “No Kotong Policy” and zero tolerance for the ones who are trying to bribe an HPG Personnel, in line with the thrust of the CPNP’s strategy of implementing aggressive and honest law enforcement measures to combat carnapping, highway robbery, and other forms of criminality along the highways.
