Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Mina F. Pangandaman lauded the continuous development taking place in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as she graced the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the newly-established Mindanao State University (MSU) – Maguindanao Infirmary on 24 January 2024.
The facility was established through the DBM-funded Healthcare Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health. It is expected to provide basic healthcare access not only to the faculty members, staff, and students of MSU-Maguindanao but also to the general public.
“Indeed, this healthcare facility will strengthen the socioeconomic development of Maguindanao, contributing to the overall development of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the country at large,” Secretary Pangandaman said.
With the completion of the project, the MSU-Maguindanao may now offer health-related academic programs to aspiring students, thus providing its stakeholders more options and easier access to quality healthcare services. The MSU-Maguindanao Infirmary is a modern healthcare facility which features an emergency care area, nurse station, isolation room, university physician consultation room, dental clinic, pharmacy, medical laboratories, and admission rooms.
MSU-Maguindanao has been serving the constituents of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and other nearby communities.
“Ang sabi nga po ng Pangulo, ‘Habang pinapabuti natin ang lagay ng ekonomiya, pinapalakas din natin ang kakayahan ng Pilipino. Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng mahahalagang armas ng edukasyon, magandang kalusugan, at trabaho. Ang pasilidad pong ito ay patunay sa pagtupad ng lahat ng hangaring ito,” Secretary Pangandaman expressed.
“Bahagi po ito ng malawakang hangarin ng ating Pangulo para sa isang Bagong Pilipinas. Dahil ‘yan po ang isa sa nagbibigay ng kahulugan sa konsepto ng ating Bagong Pilipinas – kung saan lahat ng sektor ng lipunan ay kumikilos at may kontribusyon para sa inaasam nating transpormasyon,” Secretary Pangandaman said.
