Calamba City, Laguna, has taken a pioneering step in bolstering its emergency response capabilities with the launch of the ONE BUTTON SMS application, also known as the PNP ALERT BUTTON, and the blessing of the Mobile Police Community Response and Monitoring (PCRM) Box. This innovative initiative, unveiled this morning, aims to address the pressing need for swift intervention during emergencies, particularly during peak tourist seasons like Holy Week and Operation Summer Vacation (SumVac), as Calamba stands as the resort capital of the Philippines, expecting an influx of tourists.

This groundbreaking move sets a precedent in Laguna, with plans for expansion across the entire province and eventually nationwide.

The ONE BUTTON SMS app, easily downloadable, revolutionizes the way residents can communicate with crucial government agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO). With just a single press, users can instantly alert these agencies, enabling them to respond promptly to any emergency situation.

In a live demonstration of its efficacy, Mayor Ross Rizal personally tested the app with PLtCol. Milany Martirez, initiating a simulated fire incident alarm at City Hall. The response was nothing short of remarkable, as within seconds, the PNP, BFP, Calamba POSO, City Health Office and CDRRMO were mobilized and swiftly on-site, showcasing the app’s ability to expedite emergency response efforts.

Moreover, as part of the launch event, an earthquake drill was conducted, underscoring the city’s commitment to disaster preparedness. Led by local government unit (LGU) officials, office personnel were instructed to take cover under desks with hands on their heads, ensuring they are equipped to respond effectively in the event of a seismic event.

The introduction of the ONE BUTTON SMS app and the blessing of the PCRM Box signify a significant leap forward in emergency response technology for Calamba City. By leveraging the power of mobile communication and establishing a centralized communication hub, the city aims to enhance the safety and security of both residents and visitors alike, particularly during peak tourist seasons.

This groundbreaking initiative not only ensures a more efficient emergency response system within Calamba City but also sets a precedent for other communities nationwide. As cities and municipalities grapple with the challenges of ensuring public safety, the ONE BUTTON SMS app serves as a beacon of innovation, offering a scalable solution that can be adapted to various regions and scenarios.

As Calamba City continues to lead the charge in leveraging technology for the greater good, residents and visitors can rest assured knowing that their safety is a top priority. Stay tuned for further updates on the implementation and impact of this transformative initiative, as Calamba paves the way for a safer and more resilient future.
