In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office IV-A Special Enforcement Team 1 and PDEA National Capital Region executed a successful buy-bust operation in Barangay Lagro, Quezon City on March 25, 2024. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two high-value drug personalities identified as Steven Caliat alias Datu, aged 49, and Jhonny Mahinay alias Mustacho, aged 41, both residents of Northfairview, Quezon City. Both suspects are married and work as tricycle drivers.
During the operation, authorities confiscated approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of Php 3.4 million. Additionally, buy-bust money used in the transaction was also seized from the suspects, further solidifying the case against them.
The suspects will face charges for violating Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This law imposes severe penalties on individuals involved in the manufacturing, distribution, and possession of illegal drugs in the Philippines.
The successful operation highlights the continuous efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the drug trade and protect communities from the harmful effects of illegal substances. PDEA’s relentless pursuit of drug offenders underscores the government’s commitment to eradicating drug-related activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
PDEA officials urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperative in reporting any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking. They emphasize the importance of community involvement in the fight against illegal drugs, as it plays a crucial role in identifying and apprehending individuals involved in drug-related crimes.
As the legal process unfolds, authorities vow to pursue all necessary measures to ensure that justice is served and that those responsible for fueling the drug trade are held accountable for their actions.
