A tense situation unfolded in Barangay Leviste (Tubahan), Rosario, Batangas, on the morning of March 26, 2024, as an armed encounter erupted between government troops and an undetermined group of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs). The clash, which occurred at approximately 7:17 AM, involved members of the 59th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, and CTGs suspected to be under the command of Junalice Arante-ISITA, known as ARYA of SINAG 1, SRMA 4C, STRPC.

According to reports, the government troops, led by Combat group under 2LT ROMEROS PL, S/59IB, were conducting strike operations following Battalion OPORD 01-2024 dated March 12, 2024, and FS SOL, 300, PAF TIP GENESIS. It was during these operations that they encountered the CTGs in the rural area near the boundary of Rosario and Taysan.

The firefight ensued, with both sides exchanging gunfire in the rugged terrain of Batangas. As of the latest update, the skirmish is still ongoing, with authorities actively engaged in the area to neutralize the threat posed by the CTGs.

Initial assessments reveal no casualties on the government side. However, on the enemy side, three CTGs have been confirmed dead, comprising one female and two males. Additionally, government forces seized several weapons and equipment from the scene, including one M16 rifle, one Bushmaster firearm, and one Baby Armalite. Furthermore, six jungle packs and wire were found, indicating the presence of a larger CTG contingent.

The situation remains fluid, with security forces maintaining a heightened presence in the area as they work to stabilize the situation and ensure the safety of local residents. Residents in nearby communities are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
