In a recent anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Calamba Philippine National Police (PNP), two Street Level Individuals (SLIs) were apprehended, with around 41,000 pesos worth of shabu seized.

Identified by Police Colonel Gauvin Mel Y. Unos, Acting Provincial Director of Laguna PNP, the suspects were known by aliases Rene and Juna, residents of Calamba City, Laguna.

According to the report by Police Lieutenant Colonel Milany E Martinez, Chief of Calamba Component City Police Station, their operatives orchestrated the drug buy-bust operation in the early hours at approximately 12:14 on April 4, 2024, in Barangay 2, Calamba City, Laguna. This resulted in the arrest of the aforementioned individuals after allegedly selling illegal shabu to an undercover police poseur buyer in exchange for marked money.

Confiscated from the suspects were two plastic sachets containing approximately 6 grams of suspected illegal shabu, valued at around Php 41,400. Additionally, two coin purses used for the marked money exchange were also recovered from the suspects.

Currently, the suspects are under the custody of Calamba Component City Police Station (CCPS) and are facing charges for violating RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PCOL UNOS stated, “Through the cooperation of our community, our police operations are conducted more swiftly and efficiently. With the prompt action of our police force, those engaged in illegal activities are promptly apprehended.”

This successful operation underscores the continuous efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating illegal drug trade and ensuring the safety and security of the community. It serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the community in addressing the menace of illegal drugs.
