Calamba City, Laguna – In a continued collaboration between the Philippine Statistics Authority Region IV-A (PSA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IV-A (DSWD), 73,260 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) have been successfully registered in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as of May 12, 2024. The initiative, which began mid-February, aimed to register 4Ps members who had not yet enrolled in PhilSys and to authenticate those already registered during the Family Development Sessions (FDS).

The FDS, a monthly parent group activity attended primarily by the main grantees of 4Ps households, typically mothers, focuses on enhancing parenting capabilities and encouraging active citizenship. During these sessions, participants were given the opportunity to register for PhilSys, the country’s national ID system, which is designed to streamline access to social services and benefits.

PSA Regional Director Charito C. Armonia expressed gratitude for the successful collaborative efforts. “This joint effort not only accelerates the PhilSys registration process but also empowers 4Ps beneficiaries, ensuring they have access to essential social services and benefits,” said Director Armonia. She emphasized the crucial role played by the DSWD, local government units, and community leaders in facilitating the smooth execution of the registration drive.

The PhilSys National ID aims to provide a secure and unified identification system for all Filipinos, streamlining the delivery of public and private services. By promoting financial inclusion and enhancing overall governance, PhilSys is set to improve access to various social protection programs, financial services, and other essential services.

Through the partnership, the PSA and DSWD were able to leverage the monthly FDS to reach a large number of 4Ps beneficiaries, ensuring that even those in remote areas could be registered. This effort is part of a broader strategy to ensure that all Filipinos, especially the most vulnerable, can benefit from the national ID system.

The success of this initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the quality of life for the registered 4Ps beneficiaries. With a PhilSys ID, beneficiaries will find it easier to access government services, open bank accounts, and receive financial aid, thereby improving their economic stability and social inclusion.

As the initiative continues, both the PSA and DSWD remain committed to reaching even more beneficiaries, ensuring that every Filipino has the opportunity to be included in the national ID system. This ongoing effort underscores the importance of collaboration between government agencies and local communities in achieving inclusive and comprehensive social development goals.
