Calamba City, Laguna – On June 1, 2024, the Laguna Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Laguna), in collaboration with the Negosyo Center Santa Rosa and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), conducted an impactful workshop titled “Start Up: A Visionary Venture on Consumer Awareness, Rights and Entrepreneurship.” Held at the Santa Rosa Auditorium, this initiative was driven by enterprising students from PUP and other universities, eager to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.
This workshop aimed to educate both consumers and aspiring entrepreneurs, addressing the critical gap between market awareness and actionable entrepreneurship. Through an array of workshops, seminars, and interactive campaigns, participants were enlightened on their consumer rights while gaining practical insights into the nuances of starting and managing successful businesses.
“By harnessing the energy and creativity of student entrepreneurs, Start Up cultivates a vibrant ecosystem where innovation thrives,” said a spokesperson for the event. “Through mentorship programs and networking opportunities, participants not only refine their business awareness but also forge meaningful connections within the entrepreneurial community. This collaborative endeavor empowers students to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and fosters a culture of ethical business practices and consumer advocacy that will shape the future of commerce.”
The event began with opening remarks by Ms. Rocio Tejido, a PUP marketing instructor. This was followed by inspiring talks from notable speakers, including Mr. Ricardo E. Paelmo, Department Head of Sales Division at Enchanted Kingdom, and Ms. Nicka Jean D. Atayde, a Negosyo Center Business Counselor of Santa Rosa City, who discussed entrepreneurial mindsets and consumer rights and responsibilities.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates to the 163 participants who actively engaged in the seminar, marking a significant step in their entrepreneurial journeys. This event not only highlighted the importance of consumer awareness but also underscored the critical role of young entrepreneurs in shaping a vibrant, ethical marketplace.
