Calamba City – In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activities, 5 high-value drug personalities were apprehended during a coordinated buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Batangas Provincial Office, PDEA Seaport Interdiction Unit-Batangas, and Lipa City Police Station. The operation took place on June 3, 2024, at 2:20 PM in Barangay Mataas na Lupa, Lipa City, Batangas.
The authorities confiscated approximately 255 grams of suspected shabu, estimated to be worth Php 1,734,000. The buy-bust money used in the operation was also recovered. The seized shabu, a powerful and illegal stimulant, represents a significant haul and is considered a major success in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in the region.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Rocky Golloso y Sembrano, 34; Julius Devilla y Bunsoy, 24; Ruvelen Abella y Gaot, 49; Jerlyn Lagrama y Lumacad, 21; a minor whose identity is protected, and a certain Danmark Abella, who remains at large and is actively being pursued by the authorities.
This operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle drug networks and bring high-value targets to justice. The arrested individuals are expected to face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This law imposes strict penalties on those involved in the manufacture, distribution, and possession of illegal drugs.
PDEA Batangas Provincial Office commended the collaboration between different enforcement units, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts in tackling the drug problem.
Community members have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The local government also reaffirmed its support for national anti-drug campaigns and pledged to bolster community-based initiatives aimed at prevention and rehabilitation.
The suspects are currently detained, awaiting the formal filing of charges. Meanwhile, the authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate and apprehend Danmark Abella. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover further connections and disrupt the broader network involved in drug trafficking in the region.
This operation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing war against drugs in Batangas, reflecting the commitment and cooperation of various agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
