Calamba City, Laguna – The Social Security System (SSS) is intensifying efforts to recover nearly P3 million in unremitted contributions and penalties from 10 delinquent employers in Cavite. The SSS Bacoor Branch recently issued violation notices as part of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in the city.

Josephine S. Hipolito, Head of the SSS Bacoor Branch, highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that these employers’ failure to remit contributions is depriving their 31 employees of essential SSS benefits and loan privileges. “Without updated contribution records, employees cannot access SSS benefits or loan programs,” Hipolito stated.

The violation notices serve as formal reminders to employers about their outstanding SSS contributions and the necessity of immediate settlement. “It is a legal obligation for employers to deduct the employee’s share of the monthly SSS contribution from their salary and remit it along with the employer’s share to the SSS,” Hipolito emphasized.

Employers who received the notices have been given a 15-day deadline to coordinate with the SSS Bacoor Branch and settle their delinquencies. Hipolito warned of legal consequences for non-compliance, stating, “If they fail to act on the written notices, SSS will take legal action since non-remittance of SSS premiums is a criminal offense under Republic Act No. 11199.”

In a recent press briefing, Hipolito also reported a significant recovery of P29.51 million in contribution delinquencies from two employers targeted during the nationwide RACE operations on April 28. “We are grateful for the immediate compliance of these two employers. However, the remaining eight have not complied with our notices, and we will soon file charges against them in the Prosecutor’s Office,” she said.

Under the law, employers who fail to register their employees or do not deduct and remit contributions to SSS face fines ranging from P5,000 to P20,000 and imprisonment from six years and one day to 12 years.

The SSS Bacoor Branch’s actions underscore the agency’s commitment to enforcing compliance and ensuring that employees receive their rightful benefits. The RACE campaign continues to be a critical tool in addressing contribution delinquencies and safeguarding the welfare of workers.
