July 10, 2024-Calamba City,, Laguna – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Region IV-A conducted a regional press launch today to kick off the information campaign for the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). The event took place at the PSA IV-A Regional Statistical Services Office in Lipa City, Batangas, using a hybrid setup that combined in-person and virtual participation.

Key Highlights:

1. Importance of POPCEN-CBMS:
   – The PSA aims to update population counts and demographic characteristics across the country, down to the barangay level through POPCEN.
   – CBMS identifies qualified beneficiaries of government social protection programs.
   – Data collected will serve as the basis for evidence-based policies and programs to improve the quality of life for Filipinos.

2. Leadership and Cooperation:
   – Regional Director Charito C. Armonia led the event, emphasizing the significance of public support and cooperation.
   – Regional Chief Statistical Specialist Benigno F. Perido and Supervising Statistical Specialist Charity O. Bautista also played key roles.

3. Upcoming Household Visits:
   – Household visits for data collection will officially begin on July 15, 2024.
