Laguna – In a demonstration of unity and dedication to peacebuilding, Brigadier General Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr., Commander of the 202nd Infantry Brigade, delivered an impactful message at a Local Peace Engagement (LPE) event. Held at the Covered Court in So Apia, Brgy. Calawis, Antipolo City, the event was a joint effort between the 80th Infantry Battalion and the Antipolo City Task Force ELCAC, with support from the local government.

The theme of the event, “Voluntary Surrender, Disaffiliation, Denunciation, and Withdrawal of Support to CPP-NPA-NDF,” underscored the collective commitment to promoting peace and reintegration. Brigadier General Balaoro praised the courage of individuals who have chosen to leave the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) and highlighted the importance of cooperation between the military, local authorities, and community members in fostering a safe and harmonious environment.

The event featured testimonials from former members of the CPP-NPA-NDF, including a former Political Instructor and a former member of the Sangay ng Partido Lokalidad (SPL). Their stories of transformation and departure from armed struggle resonated with the audience. Additionally, 55 individuals from Paglitaw and So Malasya publicly renounced their affiliations with the CPP-NPA-NDF through an Oath and Signing of Allegiance and Pledge of Commitment. The symbolic burning of the CPP-NPA-NDF flag marked a definitive commitment to peace.

The event concluded with a Serbisyo Caravan, offering essential services to the community and further strengthening the bond between the military and local government. This collaborative effort highlights the ongoing dedication to peace, development, and a hopeful future for Antipolo City’s residents.
