Laguna, Philippines – August 18, 2024 – Victory in the government’s ongoing counterinsurgency efforts was achieved when alias “Diego,” a PSR-listed member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Cavinti, Laguna. The operation was executed by personnel from the 34th Special Action Company (34SAC) and 3rd Special Action Battalion (3SAB) of the Special Action Force (SAF), alongside the Regional Intelligence Unit – Police Regional Office 4A (PRO 4A) and other Philippine National Police (PNP) units.

Diego, a member of the Komiteng Seksiyon Platoon CALTEX under Guerrilla Front Committee 43/SIGMA, decided to abandon his life of hostility. Expressing his desire to live a peaceful life with his family, Diego turned himself in, surrendering a hand grenade to the authorities.

The Regional Intelligence Unit – PRO 4A has taken custody of the surrenderer and the surrendered item for proper documentation and disposition. Diego is also set to be enrolled in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which aims to provide former insurgents with the necessary support to reintegrate into society.

The successful operation underscores the effectiveness of the strategies implemented by the PNP SAF and other law enforcement agencies in fostering peace and stability in the region. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to providing avenues for those seeking to abandon armed conflict and pursue a life of peace and normalcy.
