Joint Law Enforcement Operation Leads to Arrest of Suspect and Seizure of Illegal Firearm in Masbate

A victory against illegal firearms and crime, a joint law enforcement operation led by personnel from the 94th Special Action Company (SAC), 9th Special Action Battalion (SAB) of the Special Action Force (SAF), along with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Masbate Provincial Field Unit (PFU), successfully apprehended a suspect known as “alias Jojo” on August 19, 2024, in Brgy. Bunducan, Pio V Corpuz, Masbate.

The arrest was made during the implementation of Search Warrant No. 14-2024, issued on August 15, 2024, by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 49, 5th Judicial Region, Cataingan, Masbate. The warrant was for violations of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

During the operation, law enforcement officers seized a caliber .45 pistol, one steel magazine, and eight rounds of ammunition from the suspect’s possession. The presence of these items highlights the ongoing issue of illegal firearms in the region, which authorities are working tirelessly to combat.

The CIDG Masbate PFU has taken custody of both the suspect and the seized items for proper documentation and disposition. The successful operation underscores the commitment of the PNP SAF, CIDG, and other participating units in ensuring the safety and security of communities across Masbate. The operation is part of a broader effort to crack down on illegal activities and maintain peace and order throughout the province.

This operation serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and the role of community cooperation in law enforcement’s efforts to combat crime. Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities that may contribute to the proliferation of illegal firearms and other criminal activities in their areas.
