Senator Bong Go’s Continued Commitment to Senior Citizens of Biñan, Laguna Receives Praise Amid Typhoon Enteng

CALABARZON — Over 2,000 senior citizens from Biñan City, Laguna, gathered on September 2, 2024, to express their deep gratitude for the aid provided by Senator Bong Go. The event, held amidst the ongoing threat of Typhoon Enteng, saw senior citizens receiving much-needed financial assistance and grocery packages, underscoring the senator’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of the elderly in the region.

One of the senior citizens shared, “This is the second time Senator Go has extended his help to us. We truly feel his compassion for all the seniors in our city.” The sentiment was echoed by many attendees who acknowledged that not all public officials make the effort to personally reach out and provide direct assistance to senior citizens.

In an online message, Senator Go expressed his appreciation to Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay, Mayor Atty. Arman Dimaguila, Vice Mayor Gel Alonte, and the entire Sangguniang Panlungsod for their support in facilitating the distribution of aid through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). He also took the opportunity to remind the seniors to stay safe amid Typhoon Enteng, which was affecting the country at the time. Senator Go highlighted the availability of Super Health Centers, Mega Health Centers, and Malasakit Centers, which provide accessible medical services, especially in areas far from hospitals.

Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay, who was present at the event, also addressed the senior citizens, emphasizing that they hold a special place in her heart. “Without our seniors, we wouldn’t have the new generation,” she remarked, reflecting on the important role that the elderly play in society.

Agapay also urged the residents of Laguna to exercise caution during the typhoon. “Stay in your homes if there’s no urgent need to go out. The Provincial Government is on 24-hour alert monitoring the situation brought by Typhoon Enteng,” she advised.

Mayor Atty. Arman Dimaguila also expressed his gratitude to Senator Go for his unwavering support not just for Biñan, but for the entire nation. “Senator Go is the kind of leader we need—someone who doesn’t hesitate to help and doesn’t discriminate based on political affiliations. He treats everyone equally,” Mayor Dimaguila stated. He further noted that there are politicians who are visible only on television but seldom come down to engage with and check on the welfare of the people, a trait he contrasted with Senator Go’s hands-on approach.

The event served not only as a moment of aid distribution but also as a demonstration of solidarity between the local government, national officials, and the community, especially during challenging times brought by natural calamities.
