MPT South Launches “ALERTO KADA KILOMETRO” Road Safety Seminar at PITX to Boost Driver Awareness and Safety

Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), the concessionaire for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) and Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), reaffirmed its commitment to road safety with the launch of its “ALERTO KADA KILOMETRO” Drayberks Road Safety Seminar held at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) on August 27, 2024.

The seminar was attended by 65 drivers from various sectors, including public utility vehicles (PUVs), jeepneys (PUJs), and Classes 1 and 2 vehicles. These participants represented a cross-section of the driving community, all of whom play a critical role in ensuring road safety. Key figures at the event included Mr. Arnold Yuson, Terminal Operations Manager of PITX, and Mr. Rechillo Baladjay, Technical Staff from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

During the event, Carlo Hipol, Head of Traffic Operations at MPT South, delivered presentations covering essential topics such as road safety practices, traffic awareness, and toll operations. These discussions aimed to equip drivers with the necessary knowledge to navigate expressways safely and efficiently, with an emphasis on preventing accidents.

An interactive Q&A session followed the presentations, where Rechillo Baladjay from TRB addressed various concerns and questions raised by the drivers. This session provided an opportunity for drivers to gain clarity on issues related to toll regulations and expressway operations, further enhancing their understanding and preparedness.

Arlette V. Capistrano, Vice President for Communications and Stakeholder Management of MPT South, emphasized the seminar’s importance in fostering a safety-conscious culture among drivers. “Our goal in this seminar is to help reduce accidents in the expressway by imparting the importance for drivers to be concerned for their well-being and the well-being of other road users,” she stated, highlighting the seminar’s role in promoting a safer driving environment.

The “ALERTO KADA KILOMETRO” seminar is part of a larger initiative by MPT South aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of drivers. This ongoing program underscores MPT South’s dedication to building a more responsible and safety-conscious community of drivers, ultimately leading to safer roads for everyone.

Looking ahead, the Drayberks “ALERTO KADA KILOMETRO” program will be a year-long initiative. It aims to reach drivers across all vehicle classes from both the public and private sectors, ensuring that the message of road safety is widespread and impactful.
