PDEA and PNP Seize ₱3.4M Worth of Shabu in Major Parañaque Drug Bust

Authorities seized ₱3.4 million worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation conducted at a mall parking area in Barangay Don Bosco, Parañaque City on September 3, 2024. The operation was a coordinated effort involving teams from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office IV-A, PDEA National Capital Region-Southern District Office, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operation Unit-NCR.

The operation unfolded at 11:00 in the morning, targeting a high-profile drug personality identified as Rommel Angeles y Namil. The suspect, a 44-year-old male resident of Lower Bicutan, Taguig, was apprehended at the scene. He is believed to have played a significant role in the illegal drug trade within the region.

During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu, along with the marked buy-bust money used in the operation. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at ₱3.4 million, underscoring the significance of the bust in curbing illegal narcotics in the area.

Rommel Angeles, who is reportedly jobless and married, has been tagged as a high-value target by authorities. His arrest is considered a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs in the National Capital Region, particularly in the Southern District.

Following his arrest, Angeles was immediately transferred to the PDEA Regional Office IV-A Detention Facility located in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. He is currently being held there as authorities prepare to file formal charges against him.

Angeles will face multiple charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This law, which governs the Philippines’ strict anti-drug measures, ensures that individuals involved in the illegal drug trade are prosecuted to the fullest extent.

The successful operation is a testament to the continued efforts of PDEA and PNP in their relentless pursuit to dismantle drug syndicates operating within the country. Authorities remain committed to safeguarding communities by targeting high-value individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
