20yo Suspect Arrested in Caloocan City for Illegal Possession of Firearms

In a swift operation led by the personnel of Hillcrest Police Sub-Station 8, a 20-year-old suspect was arrested on September 10, 2024, for violating Section 28 of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act.

The suspect, identified as Ark Joeris Zapico, alias “AJ,” was apprehended at his residence located at Blk 4 Lot 14, IMC Homes, Camarin Road, Barangay 172, Caloocan City. Police enforcement, under the leadership of PLT Ariel H. Panuelos, Deputy Commander of Police Sub-Station 8, successfully executed Search Warrant No. 398, which was issued by Hon. Raymundo G. Vallega, Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 130, Caloocan City.

The operation commenced at approximately 5:15 P.M. and concluded by 6:00 P.M. A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of a .45 caliber pistol with serial number 326132, along with a magazine loaded with four live rounds of ammunition.

Zapico, who is currently unemployed, was taken into police custody following the successful implementation of the search warrant. Authorities are conducting further investigations into the case, with additional charges likely to be filed in accordance with the firearms law.

The police underscored the importance of this operation as part of their ongoing efforts to curb the illegal possession of firearms and enhance public safety in the area.
