DOST-CALABARZON Launches First-Ever ‘Hack4AProgress’ with 8 Teams Competing to Solve Local Government Challenges

CALAMBA, Laguna – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-CALABARZON, through its Management Information System (MIS) Unit, is hosting the first “Hack4AProgress: Creating Innovative Solutions to Address Local Government Challenges” on September 23-25, 2024, at Sol Y Viento, Calamba. This 48-hour hackathon is part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTIW), aligning with the national program for “Smart and Sustainable Communities in the Country.”

The event aims to generate smarter and more sustainable solutions to local government challenges through the creation of minimum viable products (MVPs). Open to CALABARZON students, professors, startups, and government employees, the hackathon will see eight finalist teams compete for the top prize.

The finalists, selected from institutions across the region, include:

konek.dev – University of the Philippines Los Baños

HealthConnect – National University (NU) – Laguna

Team Basu-Heroes – National University (NU) – Laguna

CodeKnights – Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba

PNC-ACOES – Pamantasan ng Cabuyao

Team 8 – National University (NU) – Laguna

Dash2Attack – Cavite State University – Main Campus

Algoholics – National University (NU) – Dasmariñas

These teams will present their MVPs to a panel of judges, with the top three winning teams receiving cash prizes. The champion team’s MVP will be considered for further funding and potential adoption by DOST agencies or local government units, contributing to sustainable and tech-driven governance.

The Hack4AProgress highlights DOST-CALABARZON’s commitment to fostering innovation in local governance and empowering communities through technology.
