High-Value Drug Suspect Arrested in P3.4-Million Buy-Bust in Taguig City

In a coordinated operation on September 18, 2024, joint forces from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) successfully apprehended a high-value drug personality in Taguig City. The arrest took place during a buy-bust operation at around 6:38 p.m. in a parking lot located in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City.

The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Rohamin Santon y Kamiron, a resident of Barangay Maharlika in Lower Bicutan. Authorities were able to capture him during the operation, which was part of a larger effort to dismantle drug networks operating within the region.

During the bust, officers seized approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around Php 3.4 million. In addition to the illegal drugs, the marked buy-bust money used in the operation was also recovered from the scene.

The successful operation was a joint effort between various law enforcement agencies, including personnel from the PDEA Laguna Provincial Office, PDEA Regional Office IV-A Special Enforcement Team 1, PDEA Regional Office National Capital Region Southern District Office, the PNP Taguig City Police Station Sub-Station 2, and the Taguig City Southern Drug Enforcement Unit.

Currently, the suspect is being held at the PDEA Regional Office IV-A Detention Facility in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, where he awaits further legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the suspect’s possible connections to other drug operations in the region.

Santon now faces multiple charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Legal experts expect these charges to be formally filed in the coming days as the case progresses.

This arrest marks another victory in the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs in the region, as authorities remain committed to curbing the spread of dangerous substances and dismantling criminal networks.
