In a major law enforcement operation, authorities in Laguna successfully arrested Arjeth Muase Banatao, a 27-year-old resident of San Pedro, Laguna, who was wanted for violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 (RA10883). Banatao, listed as one of the province’s Most Wanted individuals, was apprehended in Brgy Paciano, Calamba City, on September 19, 2024, following a coordinated effort by multiple police units.

The arrest took place at around 11:00 AM and was led by PMAJ Dante R. Aquino. His team was supported by the RHPU4A Investigation and Intelligence Section, led by PSMS Jomard Zomil, and the Santa Rosa City Police Station. This operation was part of an intensified crackdown on high-profile fugitives in Laguna.

Arjeth Muase Banatao had been evading arrest since August 13, 2024, when a warrant was issued for her capture by Honorable Judge Teodoro Nablo Solis of RTC Branch 25, Biñan City. The warrant was related to her violation of the Anti-Carnapping Act, and the court had set bail at Php300,000.

According to authorities, Banatao was a key figure in multiple carnapping cases in the region. She had been declared a Most Wanted Person at the provincial level under IR No. PHPT-LAGUNA-2024-07-002 by the Laguna PPO, making her a priority target for local law enforcement.

During the operation, Banatao was informed of the reason for her arrest and her constitutional rights, including her Miranda rights and the provisions of the Anti-Torture Law. The arrest was recorded using alternative recording devices, such as mobile phones, to ensure transparency and compliance with legal procedures.

Following the arrest, Banatao was taken to the local police station for documentation and temporary detention. She is currently awaiting the return of the warrant to the issuing court, where further legal proceedings will take place.

Authorities are expected to release additional details as the investigation continues. This arrest is seen as a major success in Laguna’s ongoing efforts to crack down on criminal activities and bring fugitives to justice.
