Laguna Vice Governor Atty. Karen Agapay continues to inspire her followers with her series “Life Lessons from Teacher Karen,” released in celebration of National Teachers’ Month. In her latest lesson, she emphasized the importance of simplicity and humility in both public service and personal life, sharing insights from her decades-long career.

In her first lesson, Agapay underscored the value of hard work. “No alternative for hard work!” she declared. She shared that perseverance and diligence were the cornerstones of her journey. “Ever since I was young, it was ingrained in me that hard work is essential to improving one’s life, and nothing can replace it.” Despite the challenges, she reminded her audience to trust that everything will eventually pay off with God’s grace.


Agapay, who has served as a public servant for 32 years, reflected on her journey that began as an SK Chairman. Her path later led her to become a lawyer, Vice Governor of Laguna, and a teacher for 15 years. Throughout her experiences, she has held on to the values of being humble and living simply.

She expressed how these values helped shape her perspective, particularly in the understanding that life’s accomplishments and power are temporary. “Nothing lasts forever,” Agapay remarked, reminding her audience that everything, including positions of power, has an end.

Despite the transient nature of power, she emphasized that what truly endures is the way people remember one’s goodness and kindness. This, according to Agapay, is a lasting legacy that transcends the fleeting nature of titles and authority.

Her message resonated with many, especially during National Teachers’ Month, as it reflected the spirit of mentorship and leadership that prioritizes integrity over status. Agapay’s lessons, drawn from her real-life experiences, continue to offer guidance to her constituents.

The final installment of her “Life Lessons” series is scheduled to be released next week, marking the conclusion of her reflective journey this month. Many eagerly await her closing thoughts.
