In anticipation of the annual Undas surge, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) is implementing its “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” (SMSK) program to provide motorists with essential support for a smooth and safe holiday travel experience. With heavy traffic volumes expected on key expressways, MPTC’s initiative aims to enhance traffic management and ensure the welfare of all travelers.

The program covers major expressways, including NLEX, SCTEX, NLEX Connector, CALAX, and CCLEX, where MPTC has intensified its personnel deployment, 24/7 traffic monitoring, and incident response teams. These measures are set to address the increased road activity anticipated over the holiday period.

Strategically stationed emergency response and medical teams will be available to assist travelers in case of any untoward incidents. Additionally, MPTC will be offering free towing services for Class 1 vehicles from October 31 at 6 AM until November 4 at 6 AM, aiming to alleviate travel stress during the holiday rush.

To further facilitate a smooth journey, MPTC has announced a temporary suspension of roadworks and lane closures from October 30 to November 4, ensuring minimal disruptions on the expressways. Only emergency safety repairs will be allowed during this period to keep the roads in optimal condition.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their trips ahead and travel during off-peak hours whenever possible. MPTC advises travelers to use the MPT DriveHub app, which offers real-time traffic updates, a toll fee calculator, and an RFID reloading option, enhancing travel convenience and roadside assistance access.

Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on northbound lanes on October 31 and November 1, with peak hours extending from early morning to the afternoon. Southbound travelers heading back to Manila may encounter congestion from the afternoon of November 2 through the morning of November 4.

In partnership with the MVP Group, MPTC has enlisted Maynilad to distribute drinking water at motorist camps, providing hydration support to travelers at various points along the expressways. This is part of the Group’s commitment to ensuring a comfortable travel experience for all.

Further, mWell, the country’s first fully integrated health and wellness mega app, will be setting up booths in rest areas, offering medical consultations and assistance for those in need of health support during their journey. Smart will also provide free internet access and charging stations in select locations, helping motorists stay connected on the road.

MPTC encourages motorists to be “expressway-ready” by ensuring their vehicles are in top condition and their RFID stickers are functional and loaded. The company urges travelers to replace outdated RFID stickers at Easytrip stations to avoid delays and ensure smooth toll passage.

“We urge motorists to take proactive steps to be expressway-ready. Having a fully loaded RFID account and a well-maintained vehicle can make the journey safer and smoother,” said MPTC President and CEO Rogelio L. Singson. “Let’s all drive responsibly to reach our loved ones safely.”

For regular updates and road safety information, travelers can follow MPTC’s social media accounts or reach their hotline at 1-35000.
